_thinkMake Week_13, (Spatial Practices: Thinking and Making) - Final Week before Christmas Break

This week was the last day for January intake students in this Module, and we had a group reflection and review of our past lectures what this module offers and our thoughts about improving with Oren together.

For me, this module gave me a new psychological, and theoretical insight and way of thinking about how spaces can be created without following a specific design method in a box if we paid more attention to our surroundings and how these human and non-human interactions, rhythms and how they come from and how these can affect through actions(Verbs), we will get closer approach to understanding a space effectively.

After that, we were instructed to create something that is related to the overall experience of this module or represents what we are passionate about or have an interest in design/making practices and thesis project directions that we are developing.

I have wanted to create something that can be aesthetically pleasing yet sensory stimulating design for all people regardless of their race, age, gender, sexuality and abilities that can benefit their physical and mental wellness with therapeutic, healing effects since my research was about utilizing sensory garden methods in a green urban open space (Park). I want to continue my direction to Thesis which I can explore and develop more.

So I drew an item that can stimulate people's senses with vision, touch, sound and ambience: windchimes with lights installed and hanging over from a certain height.

The wooden windchimes are placed in circular, oval and irregular shapes yet harmonic to one another, and they are structured inside with aluminium/metal rods to make pleasant sounds when they move.

Since the wooden sticks are in tubular shapes, on the other side of the surfaces, ambient lightings are also installed. The lighting can also turn inward as well as outward as these rods can be rotated freely in both directions.

So they can be used indoors as decoration lighting or outside hanging around a tree depending on how users want to utilize their functions in different spaces.
