_thinkMake Week_05 (Spatial Practices: Thinking and Making) - Ways of Using, Strategy and Tactics
This week, me and Mahya's turn to make a presentation about what we resonated with and reflected on the reading. Our week was about making different ways of uses, consumption, strategies, and tactics on products on literature such as language and analyzing of how they are being used and what outcomes can come. The significant things that relate to me the most were
- La Perque which is the act of one does for oneself under the guise of doing work for their employer.
- Celibate machine which is a metaphorical description of a machine or system that does not engage in or replicate human desires or behaviours, particularly those related to sexuality or reproduction.
- Strategy and Tactic may look the same but Strategies tend to be less flexible and adaptable, as their scope is bigger since it involves significant investments and long-term commitment while tactics are narrower in scope and adaptable and subject to change as circumstances evolve, allowing for quick adjustments.
- People who have power in their space can be dominant but those who don't have enough power in different spaces become a struggle but regain their power back by way using the act of being " In Between".
After our presentation, Oren formed two groups, and our group was placed outside the corridors near the fire exit door at the stairs.

Then our group performed an activity based on which verbs we had chosen from this week's reading. I chose In between, Consumption and Dislodge.
Firstly, we are already on the third floor between the stairs, so we're in between the space, Linnea comes from downstairs to upstairs, Samia and I cover her with our hands on her way then open it making to pave her. While on the upper floor, Mahya was removing the pins from the board by force which was also dislodging. She went downstairs counted her steps and jumped within over three steps which made a score to her and gave the pins to Samia and took them back, and then we made our bodies adapt to the space by adjusting on the stairs such as lying, stretching our bodies, and looking down from the stairs from above imagining when people gonna come up. After that, we stepped backwards making a complex way to go downstairs, and finally, we used the hand sanitiser consumed from the bottle to be absorbed into our hands.
After our break, we sat down in there and based on what we had seen and heard in that space for four minutes, we had to close our eyes and imagine what it felt like to be in that space and illustrate on a paper. I remembered the vision repetition of the number of steps and staircase crossing over through the above and the lighting installed on each of the floor's corners. So I captured the vision through the lines and when I was in that space I felt separateness and encapsulated maybe because of the voices and echoes amplifying from above and below.
Before the end of the class, we sat for 20 minutes and illustrated a piece or something that could be installed through the space we were in based on our chosen verbs. I drew two curved staircases across each other going upwards to the voids, which are dislodged from the floor, in between them before going upstairs, there is a way to walk each side of the stairs where people can decide which side of the way they wanna take and consume their direction faster.
